Our History

Founded in 1957, the Group has grown from modest beginnings into an international media and communications group, encompassing publishing, events and consultancy. Since its formation IC Publications has been at the forefront of debate and analysis, actively shaping and changing the narrative of Africa.

  • 1957: The first Ediafric newsletter is published in Paris
  • 1966: African Development is launched in London as a newsletter
  • 1974: Launch of The Middle East and Medicin Digest in English and French
  • 1978: African Development is relaunched as New African and African Business magazines
  • 2007: IC Publications launches New African and African Business in French
  • 2007: Launch of IC Events and Communications Consultancy services
  • 2008: Launch of African Banker in English and French
  • 2009: Launch of New African Woman in English and in French
  • 2010: New African celebrates its 500th edition
  • 2012: Creation of a separate communications consultancy division
  • 2013: IC reaches over 2.6 million readers in more than 100 countries
  • 2014: Launch of French websites, redevelopment of English websites and launch of apps
  • 2016: New African celebrates 50 years of uninterupted publishing
  • 2017: IC Publications celebrates its 60th year of uninterrupted publishing
  • 2020: Launch of IC Intelligence
  • 2022: Digital First becomes central to everything we do
